The mega-yacht Blue Moon recently completed its two-year maintenance dry-docking at Bay Ship & Yacht’s shipyard in Alameda. The captain of the Blue Moon choose Bay Ship for its extensive experience in servicing and maintaining mega-yachts, as well as its complete dry-docking facilities that include the West Coast’s only 1,200-ton Syncrolift for lifting boats and ships out of the water and moving them into land berths. The Blue Moon also took advantage of Bay Ship & Yacht’s berthing facility at Pier One on Treasure Island on San Francisco Bay to provide additional time for the captain and the crew to enjoy the Bay Area.
The 199-foot Blue Moon, registered in Cayman Islands, spent this past summer cruising the West Coast. The yacht has a beam of 36 ft., a draft of 11 ft., and is powered by two 2,000 hp Caterpillar diesel engines with a twin-screw propulsion system that provides a cruising speed of 16.2 knots.
Bay Ship & Yacht is the only shipyard on San Francisco Bay capable of maintaining and repairing both steel and aluminum ferries and yachts, as well as tugs and other work boats and diversified military craft. The yard has a 3,000-ton floating dry-dock and a state-of-the-art Syncrolift for docking vessels up to 200 ft. and 1,200 tons and moving them by rail to a total of 16 dry-berth working stations.
